Ann Arbor Artist Studios is a communal studio environment with eight individually designated private studio spaces within a shared, open room. Rather than being separated by walls or enclosed rooms, each artist’s studio area is defined within one large, open main space.

This open-plan structure fosters a strong sense of community and creative presence, where artists work independently while remaining part of a shared studio atmosphere. Each private studio space is clearly assigned to an individual artist, offering personal working territory while staying visually and spatially connected to the broader studio community.

The result is a balance of privacy and openness—supporting focused studio practice alongside daily interaction, collaboration, and inspiration from working peers in the same room.

Studio rents range from $184–$274/month, depending on square footage. Each artist signs a one-year lease beginning January 1, with a one-month security deposit required.

Artists have 24/7 access, along with high-speed Wi-Fi, central air conditioning, free parking, access to a shared garden courtyard, and use of the classroom space (reservation required). Studio members may use the classroom at no additional cost with advance reservation, subject to availability.

Ann Arbor Artist Studios is intentionally priced to remain one of the most affordable studio options in Ann Arbor, where studio rentals are often significantly higher. This pricing structure is designed to support working artists by providing a sustainable, accessible, and well-resourced creative environment.
